The Kite Runner
The Kite Runner takes place in 20th century and reveals a lot about the history of the country. Amir experiences many of the key historical events first hand, and we see through that a slice of the history. Amir is present for key historical events such as the Russian invasion, and is involved in fleeing to America for refuge.
Having a firsthand perspective helps to create a sense of connection and sympathy for the Afghans during this time. Being able to relate and sympathise with people of other cultures is very important for crossing cultural boundaries. |
